WORLD BAMBOO DAY

The world bamboo day was first celebrated on September 18th 2009 at prachan,Thailand during the world bamboo congress in Bangkok. It is observed every year to increase awareness of bamboo globally to protect natural resources and the environment.

HOW BAMBOO DAY WAS CELEBRATED IN KENYA

Cabinet secretary of environment Keriako Tobiko will lead the national celebration at Michuki memorial park Nairobi.

THEME: sustaining kenya the bamboo way.

Environmental warrior Anita Soina joined the celebration

She had a message to Kenyans concerning bamboo trees on her instagram post.

ADVANTAGES OF BAMBOO TREES

Bamboo absorbs green house gases and release oxygen into the atmosphere.it is also renewable resources that may help save the world’s dwindling forests.

Bamboo can survive for upto 20 years and it leaves can be used for preparing herbal drugs for destroying parasite worms due to its strong anthelmintic composition.

Bamboo is a symbol of strength,flexibility and health.it is the fastest growing plant on the planet .

The bamboo forest at the aboretum has became a canvas of lovers and friends who leave heartfelt messages on the trees
